Sutton Coldfield
Sam Kenny – Sutton
Coldfield Franchisee
Boogie Bounce in Sutton has been in operation since October 2004.
Prior to this Sam was Deputy
Head at a local Primary School. Following the birth of her youngest
2 children Sam decided to follow a different career path and through
the purchase of her Boogie Bounce Franchise became a fully qualified
Fitness Instructor.
Sam
and her Bouncing Ladies pride themselves on having fun during their
classes. Classes are friendly, informal and unthreatening –
particularly important when novices join the class and find exercising
a little daunting.
Achievements to date for the Sutton
Bouncers include £2700 raised for Breast Cancer Research following a
Bounce in your Bras week, visits to local schools to encourage
healthy eating and exercise, and most recently, the introduction of
Kids Bouncing Classes on 2 afternoons each week.
Sam thoroughly enjoys her Bouncing,
as do her 3 children, and is committed to helping others realise
their ‘Bouncing potential’!
Q. When did you first hear about
Boogie Bounce and what attracted you to the concept?
A. My husband and I saw a half-page
advert in the local paper in summer of 2004 which detailed the
Boogie Bounce Franchise. It sounded like a great fun form of
exercise and a proven concept that had been working for 9 years.
Q. Had you been thinking about
running your own business before Boogie Bounce?
A. Yes, but decided that a
Franchise was a ‘safer’ way to go.
Q. Why did you want to make a
career change?
A. Family changes, the arrival of
young ones!! Full time day work was no longer an option with child
care such a big issue. We wanted flexible evening work.
Q. Did you find the literature
sent to you initially informative and correct?
A. Yes. It gave enough information
to begin the whole process.
Q. Were the interviews carried
out in a professional manner?
A. Initial, informal meeting at a
Boogie Bounce class was great – having a go at Bouncing certainly
broke the ice! Interviews at the office discussing formalities were
still in a relaxed atmosphere but were handled in a professional
manner. Information was presented clearly.
Q. Did you feel secure in the
knowledge that you would have the back-up and support of BBFL?
A. Yes, completely. We remain
pleased with the support we get from BBFL and always feel very
positive after speaking with Jenny. She gives constant
encouragement.
Q. Did you feel your training was
satisfactory and prepared you for the everyday running of your
business?
A. Yes. The training was intensive
but did cover every aspect of the day to day running of the
business. We had fun with the role-play – a little nerve-racking but
an essential part of the training.
Q. Are you happy with the
Quarterly training and new routines?
A. Yes. As long as we get time to
socialise at the training sessions too ! Joking aside, it’s a good
opportunity to share ideas with other franchisees.
Q.
Now you are up and running, is a Boogie Bounce Franchise what you
thought it might be? If not, how does it differ?
A. Yes. The information presented
in the Business Plan has been accurate. We’ve had no big surprises
or shocks yet and BBFL has provided reassurance at all times.
Q. Is there any other information
you wish to give us?
